Liliana De Simone is an architect and urban planner. Originally from Italy, Liliana studied and live now in Santiago de Chile. She is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Urban and Territorial Studies, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Her research focuses on consumption spaces in global cities. She is specifically interested in the variations between urban spaces and the different notions of public or pseudo-public realms in modern culture, and how consumption practices modify cityscapes. Liliana’s academic research topics include the normative dimension of retail structures in cities, the cultural evolution of consumption in Latin-American societies, an the physical and economical possibilities of complementary public-private retail investment in urban renovation areas.
